NOVI SAD AND SAINT PETERSBURG’S PETROGRADSKY DISTRICT FURTHER STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIP

The Mayor of Novi Sad Žarko Mićin welcomed at City Hall a delegation from the Administration of the Petrogradsky District of Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation, currently visiting Belgrade from 10th to 15th May as part of the Days of Saint Petersburg in the Republic of Serbia.

The delegation was headed by Yevgeny Sergeyevich Kukushkin, First Deputy Head of the Administration of the Petrogradsky District of Saint Petersburg, who underlined that the Cooperation Agreement between the District Administration and the City of Novi Sad has been in force since 2005. He stressed that the friendship and partnership built over more than two decades should continue to be carefully fostered and further developed.

Mayor Mićin extended a warm welcome to the delegation, noting that Serbia and Russia share traditionally close and friendly relations, which provide a strong foundation for the successful cooperation between the City of Novi Sad and the Administration of the Petrogradsky District. He also expressed gratitude for the District’s announced donation of a modern and highly representative children’s playground, which will be installed at an appropriate location in Novi Sad in the near future.

The officials agreed that meetings and reciprocal visits of this kind play an important role in strengthening partnership ties and confirmed their commitment to further enhancing cooperation in the fields of culture, economy, tourism and social affairs.

During their visit to Novi Sad, the Russian delegation toured City Hall and the newly constructed building of the “Miloš Crnjanski” Primary School, where they met pupils attending the Russian-language department. The delegation also visited the Novi Sad Health Centre, the Consulate of the Russian Federation in Novi Sad, and the “Freedom” monument on Fruška Gora, where wreaths were laid in tribute.
