North II Work Zone – Piping of Canal S-800

Based on a tripartite agreement concluded between the financier (the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Serbia), the investor (the City of Novi Sad – City Administration for Construction Land and Investments), and the contractor (VD “Šajkaška” Ltd. Novi Sad), works are currently underway on the piping of Canal S-800.

The total investment value amounts to 313,105,494.70 dinars (including VAT).

The contractor has been mobilised, and works are progressing in line with the agreed contractual obligations.

The project involves the construction of a new collector, which will replace the existing function of the S-800 drainage canal. The canal will be dredged and backfilled—350 metres of the canal will be dredged, while a total of 492 metres will be piped. The newly designed collector is largely routed through a green corridor, with its alignment defined by the urban development plan.

Stormwater from the industrial zone and the surrounding drainage basin will be conveyed via the canal and the new collector to the “Sajlovo” pumping station, and further into the DTD canal system (Novi Sad – Savino Selo). In addition to enabling stormwater drainage through a closed collector system, the project will also free up the land previously occupied by the open canal for other uses.
