MAYOR MIĆIN CONGRATULATES CITIZENS ON SERBIAN UNITY, FREEDOM AND NATIONAL FLAG DAY

The Mayor of Novi Sad, Žarko Mićin, has extended his congratulations to all citizens on Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day, observed on 15 September.

- The Serbian tricolour is a symbol of our glorious past, freedom and honour. Throughout history, it has been banned and burned. People have suffered and lost their lives because of it, while generations of our ancestors carried and defended it in the most difficult of times, with the belief that, after every period of suffering, it would once again fly proudly. Its colours carry the memory of those who came before us, as well as our faith in the future we are building together.That is why the unity we celebrate today is not merely a link with our past, but also a pledge to the generations to come. This day should remind us of what unites us, teach us the importance of harmony and mutual respect, and remind us of our responsibility towards the country we will leave to our children. Proud of our identity and our flag, we will continue to build our future together, founded on harmony, mutual respect and the desire for Novi Sad and Serbia to remain a safe and happy home for all of us,” Mayor Mićin said.

This year, too, marking the holiday, JKP “City Flats” Novi Sad has installed the flags of the Republic of Serbia and Serbia’s national flag at more than 28 locations across the city. Approximately 5,000 flags have been installed in total, which is 1,000 more than in 2025.
