INTERNATIONAL FASHION AND DESIGN FESTIVAL IN NOVI SAD

The Serbia Fashion Week, an international fashion and design festival, will take place 22nd-27th April in the Congress Center of the Novi Sad Fair. On the occasion, member of the City Council in charge of culture Vanja Vučenović hosted a press conference.

- I am very pleased that Novi Sad will again host this festival. The development of this event and its positive effect on our city are evident in every sense. Among numerous important aspects, I would like to emphasize the economic one, since the Serbia Fashion Week provides an opportunity for exchange of business contacts and establishment of cooperation. I hope that the organizers will attract a large number of business entities and that young designers will acquire the necessary experience and get an opportunity to present their work abroad, while the City of Novi Sad will continue to support the festival – said Vanja Vučenović.

The international fashion and design festival is the project of the National Fashion Chamber of Serbia and the only national fashion week licensed by the European Council. More than 50 local and foreign designers confirmed their participation at the April event, and besides fashion shows, there will be various cultural events, free educational seminars and business meetings.

The president of the festival and the National Fashion Chamber of Serbia Svetlana Horvat thanked the City for the support, without which, as she said, it would have been impossible to organize the festival, currently the largest of the kind in the Balkans when it comes to the number of participants, fashion shows and visitors.
- The festival treats fashion very seriously, as art and economic branch. We are welcoming economic delegations for the first time and I am certain that we will succeed in this intention to revitalize the textile industry of Serbia and increase the export of Serbian brands – said Svetlana Horvat, and added – With the intention of contributing to the development of young talents and giving them a chance to find their place in the fashion world, we also organized a competition for fashion design students in Serbia and Europe. Students from 20 European countries have already applied for this competition and I see the future power of our festival in this segment.

Assistant Director of the Novi Sad Tourist Organization Radovan Jokić drew attention to the tourist potential of the festival, whose rich program and high-quality cultural offer attract a large number of tourists and journalists from Serbia and Europe. This year over 20,000 visitors are expected.
