First Steering Committee Meeting of the MISSION Project in Maribor

First Steering Committee Meeting of the MISSION Project in Maribor

The MISSION project held its first Steering Committee Meeting on March 27, 2025, at the Urban Exhibition Site in Maribor, Slovenia.
The meeting was opened by the project’s Lead Partner, POLIMI, and the host city partner, the Municipality of Maribor, who set the stage for the meeting, while the Steering Committee formally adopted the agenda.

The first session centered around essential project management topics, led by POLIMI. These included the advance payment process, first reporting requirements, and the development of a comprehensive budget and spending plan. Each topic was discussed in detail, with Q&A sessions to ensure a clear understanding of the project’s operational aspects.

The discussion then shifted to communication strategies. POLIMI provided updates on the project’s start-up activities, highlighting the importance of completing mandatory tasks in the early stages. Topics included the communication kit, management of social media platforms, and the official project website. The planning of the first newsletter and preparations for the project’s participation in a high-level dissemination event (i.e. the European Transport Conference 2025) were also addressed.

The core of the meeting was dedicated to the presentation on the project’s Work Packages (WPs). Special attention was given to WP2 “Pilot Action Implementation”, featuring presentations on the development of the SmartApp mock-up and the data integration process.
This was followed by an in-depth discussion on WP1 “Mobility Needs and Policies,” which included presentations on three key actions: data collection, modelling, and stakeholder engagement. Participants delve into the creation of transnational databases, the development of transport models, and guidelines for involving local stakeholders.

Looking Ahead
As the meeting concluded, the Steering Committee reflected on the next steps, including setting the venue and date for the next meeting: the second Steering Committee meeting will take place in Antwerp, Belgium, alongside the European Transport Conference 2025, which will be held on September 17-19, 2025. Finally, the importance of sustaining project momentum and strengthening collaboration among partners and stakeholder was emphasized.
Stay tuned for more updates as the MISSION project move forward toward its next milestones!
