CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW PRIMARY SCHOOL IN JUGOVIĆEVO COMMUNITY OFFICIALLY KICKED OFF

The construction of a new primary school in Jugovićevo community was officially kicked off with the foundation stone being laid by Novi Sad Mayor Milan Đurić and a Member of the City Council in charge of Education Dina Vučinić. He recalled that area of the City is expanding quickly as a result of the state project to construct 2170 apartments for security service personnel.

- Every year, this neighborhood gets prettier and more enjoyable to live in. For this reason, we are thinking of the people who live in Jugovićevo, especially the future generation. Thus, we are looking at the future school today, whose construction will cost one billion RSD from the City budget. The budget for this year includes 155 million RSD from the City of Novi Sad; the remaining amount will be disbursed over the following two years. This school will have sixteen classrooms after construction on the Aleksandra Benjaka Street building is finished, which should happen in two and a half years - Mayor said. He further stated that the new school, spanning four thousand square meters, will provide amenities such as a gymnasium with a tribune, library, kitchen, and canteen for six hundred primary school students. The City of Novi Sad has also invested in infrastructure on the Jugovićevo community's land, allocating approximately 1.6 billion RSD from the City budget over the past twelve years.

The Mayor stressed that the City of Novi Sad has budgeted seven billion and three hundred million RSD for education this year, and eight billion and 274 million RSD is expected for the following year, 2024.

The construction of four completely new schools in Novi Sad will soon follow - in Jugovićevo, Satelit, Adice and Sajlovo. Likewise, the project for the construction of a school in Adice has been completed, and a primary school is also planned in Dragana Laković Street in Sajlovo. In the new budget year 2024, the City will finance the development of project and technical documentation for the extension of the "Jovan Dučić" Elementary School in Petrovaradin, as well as the extension of the "Sonja Marinković" Elementary School in Grbavica, where six new classrooms and an expanded gymnasium will be built - Mayor Đurić announced.
