2nd Stakeholder Meeting of the MISSION Project
The MISSION project held its second Stakeholder Meeting at the Urban Exhibition Site in Maribor, Slovenia, bringing together key players in the urban mobility sector to discuss the future of multimodal and integrated transport solutions.
This event served as a collaborative platform for public transport authorities, transport operators, mobility experts, and academia to exchange ideas, share data, and define the next steps for advancing urban mobility in the Adriatic-Ionian region.
Public and Private Sector Perspectives
A highlight of the event was a presentation by MARPROM, the company responsible for urban passenger transport in Maribor. The team outlined MARPROM’s role in the city’s transport ecosystem and shared valuable datasets that will support the development of the MISSION project.
Following this, the Podravje Regional Mobility Center presented its approach to sustainable mobility, addressing key themes like active mobility, public transport, and alternative mobility options. Their work aligns closely with the MISSION project’s goals to create more accessible and environmentally friendly transport systems.
Academic Insights on Multimodality
Representing the University of Maribor’s Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, and Architecture, Dr. Andrej Tibaut and Dr. Sara Guerra de Oliveria sharedresearch findings on multimodality and integrated transport. Their expertise in designing seamless and efficient mobility systems, which respond to the diverse needs of urban residents, inspired rich discussion on the future of connected transport networks.
The Role of Local Government
Mitja Klemenčič from the Municipality of Maribor – Department of Transport and Spatial Planning wrapped up the morning session with a presentation on recent developments and ongoing challenges in the city’s transport infrastructure. A key update was the introduction of new bus lines, seen as a step forward in enhancing local connectivity. The session ended with an engaging Q&A, offering stakeholders a deeper understanding of how these changes will shape the broader mobility landscape.
