NOVI SAD MARKS THE UNFICATION OF VOJVODINA TO SERBIA

On the occasion of November 25th, the Day of the Unification of Vojvodina with Serbia, Mayor of the City of Novi Sad Mr. Miloš Vučević, together with the President of the City Assembly of Novi Sad Ms. Jelena Crnogorac, laid wreaths on the commemorative plaque dedicated to the participants of the Great National Assembly.

- City of Novi Sad proudly remembers and observes November 25th 1918, as well as all the decisions reached by the Great National Assembly of Bačka, Banat and Baranja, with its key decision to unify Vojvodina to its mother-country Serbia. These decisions are underlined by most significant values: state unity, national and ethnic equality for all those who live in the territory of Vojvodina, and they also commit us to preserve those values by the virtue of our effort and devotion. It is with great trepidation that we await the 100th anniversary of this event. It will be one of the most significant dates in the history of Novi Sad and Vojvodina, and it must be commemorated in a dignified manner, so that the entire year is dedicated to this historic event – said Mayor Vučević.

Representatives of the 1912-1920 Serbian Veterans’ Descendants Association and of the Bunjevac National Council also laid their wreaths at the memorial plaque on the building of the former Grand Hotel, in which the Great National Assembly took place in 1918.
