A new stage opens to public for Festival of Street Musicians

The Mayor of Novi Sad Mr Igor Pavličić held a 'Pre-Festival Warm-Up' press conference in Danube Park Gazebo. In an informal atmosphere, accompanied by a short artistic performance, the participants of the conference presented the itinerary, promotional material, and – a special festival novelty for this year – a stage open to public. The speakers also took the opportunity to further promote touristic potential of the festival and its importance for the entire region.

- Novi Sad is a city of festivals, and in summer, it indeed offers a large variety of cultural, artistic, musical and entertainment programs. Festival of Street Musicians is one of the events which really puts Novi Sad on the map. While the festival is taking place, one really can say our city is taking it to the streets. The festival's particular charm attracts people of all ages and generations – said Mr Pavličić, and used the opportunity to invite the people to enjoy the music and fun of the upcoming festival.
State Secretary for Tourism at the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Goran Petković, stated that Festival of Street Musicians reflects the urban character of Novi Sad. The director of Serbia Tourist Organization Gordana Plamenac noted that with such an authentic festival, the City of Novi Sad closes the music event season in Serbia. She also added that, year by year, the festival is becoming a well-established and recognized event in the City's cultural calendar.
The Director of the Festival Borislav Beljanski, pointed out that the newly established Open Stage will be an excellent chance for public to show their talents and skills. It will also serve as a great invitation to people from other cities to perform as well.

The artistic part of the program was entrusted to Goodbye Bruce Lee (Zbogom Brus Li) from Novi Sad, who played the unplugged version of their repertoire. The spectators also enjoyed the show of stiltwalkers, acrobats and jugglers from Novi Sad. Among the spectators, as special guests of the festival, there were actors, musicians and numerous other public figures.

Festival of Street Musicians is taking place in Novi Sad, September 8-10. It is organized by Inbox Art Association from Novi Sad. The festival is sponsored by The City of Novi Sad, Provincial Secretary for Information and Culture of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Novi Sad Touristic Association, Ministry of Economy and Regional Development of Serbia, and French Institute.
