MAYOR OF NOVI SAD WISHES STEFAN VELJA SUCCESSFUL STUDYING

Mayor of Novi Sad Mr. Мilоš Vučеvić received today the celebrated Novi Sad scientist Stefan Velja, who was awarded highest world recognitions for his invention – the blood clot trapping and break-up device ‘The Trhombus Guard’. The Mayor wished the young scientist a lot of success during his studies in Vienna, as well as his expectations that, following graduation, Stefan Velja will return to his country and his town.
- Once more we have the opportunity to host our fellow citizen, our young scientist, and this time we are wishing him a lot of success during his studies and professional specialization. Results of his dedicated and hard work are more than obvious and Novi Sad is exceptionally proud of him. I hope that Serbia will bring about conditions which will motivate young people to return to the country, and that they would in turn act as the links drawing Serbia forward in every sense – pointed out Mayor Vučеvić.
Stеfаn Vеlјa extended his gratitude for the reception and emphasized how honored he is for being received at the City Hall once more.
- I am very pleased that our relation is so good, and that the promises I was given regarding my departure to Vienna were fulfilled, since without them I would have hardly managed. My hope is that we will keep such relations in future as well – said Stefan Velja.
Following the Gold Medal at the Eureka Inventors’ Festival in 2014 in Brussels, Stеfаn was decorated with the Order of the Kingdom of Belgium First Grade, as well as with knighthood. He is the youngest awardee of such acknowledgement, and Romanian Ministry for Development and Innovation and the Moscow Innovation Institute also awarded him for the same invention.
