COOPERATION BETWEEN NOVI SAD AND SLOVENIAN CITIES

The Novi Sad city officials, Head of Mayor’s Office Aleksandar Petrović and member of the City Council in charge of economy Goran Sečujski, MSc, met at the City Hall with the Advisor to Slovenian Minister of Diaspora Marjan Cukrov and the representatives of the Association of Slovenians "Kredarica" Novi Sad.

At the meeting they talked about the improvement of cooperation between Novi Sad and Slovenian cities, as well as about the upcoming events "Days of Slavic Literacy" and "Days of Slovenian Culture, Economy and Tourism in Novi Sad".

As Marjan Cukrov pointed out, the idea of the respective Ministry is that Slovenia organizes the meeting of mayors of the cities in the Danube region in autumn, since those cities share many common characteristics as well as problems. This event should also represent an open arena to exchange experience and discuss possibilities of associations in the frame of projects with which to compete for the EU funds.

It was concluded that in addition to the cultural and tourist cooperation, extremely important is the economic one, while it is also necessary to provide support for linking of the business entities from Slovenia and Novi Sad.

Finally, it was agreed that the Association of Slovenians "Kredarica" will take part in the event "Days of Slavic Literacy" which will be held in the second half of May in Novi Sad.
