17th NOVI SAD JAZZ FESTIVAL BEGINS

Member of the City Council in charge for Culture Mr. Vanja Vučenović attended the official opening of the 17th Novi Sad Jazz Festival, organized by the Novi Sad Culture Center and with support from the City Administration for Culture.
- The outstanding significance of the Festival is reflected in its international character, and it takes us one step closer towards our intention to become the 2021 European Culture Capital. Jazz Festival is certainly one of the most important festivals we included into our application, which was submitted in Brussels a month ago. November has traditionally been known in Novi Sad as the month of jazz, making our city at that period the center of music, especially since it gathers prominent artists from the region and the whole world. – said Mr. Vučenović and added that the City of Novi Sad will continue to support the Festival with the intention of making it even more appealing, and its program even more diverse.
Our celebrated jazz musician Duško Gojković officially opened the three-day event, whose main trade mark this year is vocal jazz music. For the first festival evening, our audience saw the performances of the Selen Gulun trio from Turkey, Duško Gojković and the RTS Big Band, as well as the American jazz pianist Joey Calderazzo.
